JIB’s First Carbon Offset Effort in Program Production

Japan International Broadcasting (JIB) has begun reducing the environmental impact of its television productions by purchasing carbon credits through the internationally recognized Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) program. This initiative marks JIB’s first use of carbon offsetting in its programming.

To address the carbon emissions generated during the production of its 30-minute program aired in FY2024, JIB measured the total CO₂ output and acquired an equivalent amount of carbon credits. These credits were sourced from a solar power project in Morocco, contributing to global efforts to combat climate change.

Looking ahead, JIB remains committed to enhancing its environmental initiatives and contributing to a more sustainable society.
